The works consisted mainly in improving the access, in renovating the supply network, in rehabilitating the sewege and in eliminating all cable linkings in the air.
Due to the high number of pedestrians and shops that exist in the majority of the streets, the demolition, digging ditches and installation works were accomplished during the night hours, so that the following mornings the streets would be as passable as possible.
As regards the supply network 150-200mm ductile casting pipes were placed.
As to the drainage, the site management decided to millcut and rehabilitate the existing pipes and to encase them with polyester resin.
The streets were paved with 80x40 cm bevelled, crushed granite slabs, forming grey, pink and black patterning. The intersections feature opus-sectile mosaic works forming the emblem of Mérida and the streets have red paving stones in the wearing course.
The whole lighting was replaced in the main street.
